Overview of the Used 2016 Kia Soul

Kia’s little box-on-wheels has been a firm favourite of the motoring public since its debut in Paris in 2008. By 2016, the Soul had achieved a firm following as people fell in love with its quirky styling and fresh, appealing look.

Trims for the 2016 Kia Soul

In 2016, there were trims for the Soul. The entry-level was the LX with manual and automatic transmissions, and the EX and EX Eco with automatic transmissions.

The middle of the line was occupied by the SX, SE Sport, and SE Urban, all with automatic transmissions and at the top of the trim levels was the SX Luxury with an automatic transmission.

Now, you can expect to pay in the region of $14,000 to $16,000 for a 2016 Kia Soul.

2016 Kia Soul Interior

Exterior Design

The Kia Soul has a very modern, quirky, refreshing design. The funky front end, with its square boxy front, blends in well with the rest of the car’s styling. The straight lines continue along the length of the body and terminate at the rear with its prominent red tail lights that bracket the rear window. The 18-inch alloy wheels look very smart and come in more than one design, depending on the trim level chosen.

Interior Design

The interior of the Soul is very spacious, seating five very comfortably. The high roofline means even the tallest people can sit without bending their necks. The plastic trim is durable, and the soft-touch dashboard materials have worn well.

There are heated bucket seats in the front and a 60/40 split-folding bench seat in the rear, with cloth upholstery in the entry-level trims and more expensive leather as an option at the top end.

The dashboard has tweeter towers at either end, and the speakers in the door panels have pulsating light rings, which add to the special look of the Soul’s interior. An added benefit is single-zone climate control.

The Soul has great cargo space with 532 litres with the seats upright and 1,402 litres with the rear seats folded down.

2016 Kia Soul Exterior

Performance

The 2016 Kia Soul came with one engine option. This was a gas-powered 1.6-litre Gamma GDI four-cylinder making 130 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel consumption was great, with drivers getting around 9.8 L/100km around town and 7.5 L/100km on the highway.

Technology

The 2016 Soul has an eight-inch touchscreen to run Kia’s Your Voice (UVO). This setup is robust and has worn well. It includes navigation, voice recognition, traffic reports and smartphone integration.

The knobs that control climate control, sound volume, and tuning are separate from the touch screen and work well.

Funky, Fun and Practical

The Soul is a fun, funky car that’s very difficult to categorize. It has the qualities associated with a hatchback and some from a crossover, but its styling and personality outshine that of other compact cars. Lincoln Township Motors in Beamsville is a premier used car dealership and will find that special pre-loved car for you.
